Coventry University


Coventry University is a public research university in Coventry, England. The origins of Coventry University can be traced back to the founding of the Coventry School of Design in 1843. It was known as Lanchester Polytechnic from 1970 until 1987, and then as Coventry Polytechnic until the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 afforded its university status that year and the name was changed to Coventry University.


Coventry University has received a Gold rating in a new government ranking of how well students are taught across UK universities.The university achieved the top accolade in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), published by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).



With more than 29,000 undergraduate and almost 6,000 postgraduate students in 2019, Coventry is the larger of the two universities in the city, the other being the University of Warwick. It is the UK's fastest growing university and the country's sixth largest overall, being the fourth largest outside of London. It has two principal campuses: one in the centre of Coventry where the majority of its operations are located, and one in Central London which focuses on business and management courses.



The university offers many UG and PG courses, ranging from finances to engineering. It also owns a research centre as it strongly promotes applied research. The Faculties and schools under Coventry University are Arts and Humanities, Engineering, Environment and Computing, Health and Life Sciences, Coventry Business School and Coventry Law School. The university also provides several accommodation options for the students.

Entry requirements for Indian Students:


Undergraduate entry requirement:


The eligibility requirements at Coventry University, are based on the level of the course applied for. Some courses may have additional entry requirements, including higher level of English proficiency, and portfolio of work.

Undergraduate Course


International students applying for undergraduate courses must have an overall score of 60 percent minimum in the Grade 12 examination.


International students are also required to prove eligibility in English language either with 60 percent in Grade 12 English language from certain examination boards only or an IELTS Academic with an overall band score of 6 or better, with no component score under 5.5. The students can also take up PTE Academic or Coventry University English Test.


Postgraduate entry requirement:


For postgraduate level, the students are required to have 60 percent in a three-year undergraduate degree or 55 percent in a four-year undergraduate degree. The eligibility in English language requires either with 65 percent in Grade 12 English language from certain examination boards only or an IELTS Academic with an overall band score of 6.5 or better, with no component score under 5.5. In this regard, the students can opt for PTE Academic or Coventry University English Test.
